Six disciplines, one building
The Think TankThink TankThe tolinax Think Tank is an IoT research lab in the Tegernsee valley that combines product development with hands-on manufacturing services. Here customers develop new products together with tolinax… is the research lab of tolinax UG. In Reitrain we build the devices our software needs — with two lasers, several 3D printers, a plotter, an embroidery machine and a card printer.
Between two research projects the machines stand idle. We pass that time on to businesses, clubs and private customers from the valley.
For pickup in Rottach-Egern there is no minimum quantity. One metre of filament, two blanks, a single sheet of acrylic — that works too.
What gets made here
Laser cutting & engraving
Plywood up to 8 mm, acrylic up to 10 mm, plus leather, felt and cork. Engraving on wood, acrylic, slate and anodised aluminium.
3D printing
FDM up to 256 × 256 × 256 mm, resin up to 218 × 123 × 235 mm. PLA, PETGPETGA copolyester and the 3D printing standard for functional parts: impact resistant, stable to about 70 degrees and indifferent to moisture and many chemicals. Where PLA softens in a hot car, PETG…, ASA, ABS, TPU and fibre-filled filaments.
Plotting & embroidery
Vinyl up to 600 mm wide, embroidery frame up to 300 × 300 mm with 12 needles without retooling. The embroidery fileEmbroidery fileA logo is not yet an embroidery file. Digitising translates every area into stitch type, stitch direction and sequence — handwork, charged once. Common formats are DST, EXP, PES and EMB. is yours afterwards.
Plastic card printing
ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1, 85.60 × 53.98 mm. Magnetic stripe, MIFAREMIFAREA chip family for contactless reading at 13.56 MHz. MIFARE Classic 1K is the most widespread and is enough for time recording and simple access; DESFire EV2 is encrypted and belongs in…, NTAG and contact chip — from a single card.
Single pieces often ready the next day.
If a print job arrives in the morning and the machine is free, the part is often ready that afternoon. Standard parts from material we stock are often ready for pickup the next day — small series and special materials take longer.
